A food photo a day - Day 26
As eager I would be to try newer cuisine, Hubby will usually be right as to weather I will like it or not. During a visit to Santa Cruz, I wanted to try a Sri Lankan Restaurant, as I had never before experienced it.
Our table for the evening
Buddha mural on the wall
The decor at the entrance
Coconut Roti with Pickle and Coconut Curry
Davenport Artichokes - Shallow fried Artichoke hearts, Thai Green Curry and Kaffir Lime Aioli
Spring Dosa
A unique cozy place - unfortunately this was taken
Potpourrie
The decor was nice and the menu unique - Casablanca Ravioli, Brown Rice Biryani, Banana Blossom Salad, Ceylon Chilly Curry, Fresh Fig Naan! But the portion was small and pricey.

This was our first experiment with Ethiopian food. Firstly, we were not sure if a vegetarian option was available. The food was definitely tasty, but was served cold. Then learnt that is the way the food is served here.
We ordered for Vegetarian combo and all the side dishes were served on the sourdough flatbread known as Injera. Injera is made out of iron rich Teff flour. They gave unlimited Injera's rolled in a basket along with this.

Beaming from the success of Pav Break/Dinner rolls, I wanted to try Potato Bun. Something that I missed staying away from home. Read more about the regional delicacy, the Iyengar Bakery Potato Bun here.

This was my first tryst with Burmese food. Oh Boy! I must say, it surely was a feast for the tastebuds.
Samosa Soup - A delicious soup made with samosas, potatoes, onions, lentils, cabbage and falafel
Brown Rice & Fiery Tofu & Vegetables - Wok fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers and basil in lightly fiery Rangoon sauce
Burmese Pad Thai - Rice noodles mixed with tofu, fresh red bell peppers, onion, pea leaves, cabbage, peanuts and scrambled egg

Talking about American, Continental and English Breakfast yesterday, I certainly can't miss the South Indian. One of our weekend indulges. Both images have the filter coffee missing.

Somehow I totally missed a post yesterday, thinking I have already posted! I was thinking of Breakfast options namely American, Continental and English.
I don't remember to have clicked a photo of my Breakfast plate while I visited UK for work. The first time I went, Cellphone with Cameras were not around, so not sure if I have anything in my DSLR. But, I did eat English Breakfast for weeks, since I was put up in a Hotel.
This is the American Breakfast, sans Orange Juice and Coffee. Looks like I had already gulped down the Juice and Coffee was on the way. I didn't remember the location, but google images helped me. These white plates with a blue line are from Ihop. So there it goes....

Talking about food, the Google Shopping Express should really get a mention, for delivering all the food to the doorsteps from different stores in < 24hrs!
See how nicely its packed in recyclable bags.

One of our favorite indulgence is a Banana Split - Three flavors of ice-cream in a split banana boat, topped with Pineapple, Strawberry and Cherries with nuts sprinkled all over. It truly is a ice-cream lovers delight! We often indulge in this as Baskin Robbins.
But, if the ice-cream flavors are Indian (like chikoo, kulfi, lychee, meetha paan, gulkand, alphonso mango) its a relish!

One pleasant discovery during the first trip to Hawaii was a Vegan chain called 'Loving Hut'. Its interesting on how each Loving hut location has a unique menu, even though its a chain. Fresh herbs, light broth, lots and lots of veggies, tofu all in a hot and spicy dish. After that during all our travels, looking out and visiting a Loving Hut location has been a best bet for us.
Fabulous Pho on the left - Rice noodle soup with tofu, vegan protein, mushroom, bean sprouts & basil.
Spicy Royal Noodle on the right - Lemongrass based soup, rice noodle with tofu, vegan protein, mushroom, cabbage and fresh herbs

A food photo a day - Day 4
This was in a Vegan Thai Restaurant in Las Vegas. Some food adventures turn out to be really pleasant. We were really hungry and was getting back onto the road after our stay in Las Vegas. The Thai Restaurant which we had visited in the previous trip not only had a 1hr wait time, but also a long line. People in the line were so hungry that they were getting into verbal arguments and fights with the hotel staff and each-other. And we happened to find this Vegan-Thai place within 0.1 mi away, and I should say, that the food was one of the best Thai food I have ever tasted.
Raw Papaya Salad
Deep Fried Ice-cream
I am still at awe on how the outer layer can be crisp and hot and can hold cold ice-cream inside it!
